As a nurse, you spend most of your time working in the hospital and other health care facilities. It’s one of the reasons why nurses become workaholics and have trouble taking time off from work. They don’t want to miss out on any opportunities that could make them more productive at their jobs. Unfortunately, this mindset can also lead them astray from enjoying life with their families and friends outside work hours.

One way that I found helpful in avoiding being a workaholic was by taking my lunch breaks outside instead of eating in my office with other coworkers. Even though this meant spending money on food rather than saving money, it was worth it because I got some fresh air, sunlight and social interaction with people who aren’t also nurses—which is something we need too!
